Cactus Today

Marilyn Keirle and her award winning team’s mission is to provide their customers with the finest food and coffee in a friendly and interesting atmosphere.

The architect designed Spanish Mission Style building lends itself perfectly to its new purpose, and for over ten years has welcomed many people through its doors, to enjoy the ambiance and warm hospitality.

The Cactus Cafe & Gallery have also been honoured with the inclusion of the very popular Wellington Heritage Trail. Father Tim Cahill described the building as well preserved and an important part of Wellington and the history of the town.

The Cactus Cafe’s menu is varied, the emphasis being on home style cooking, using fresh and where possible local ingredients.  Firm favourites include Nachos, Tortillas and Pie of the Day.   For variety, there are daily blackboard specials, using seasonal ingredients or tying in with the weather.

Delicious “Illy” coffee prepared by trained baristas is a real drawcard and many a weary traveller has been refreshed with either a stop or a takeaway over the years.  Locally made cakes and Rocky Road are also popular, as are our fresh juices.  Gluten free & vegetarian diets are also catered for.

If you’re running short of time and don’t have time to soak up the lovely atmosphere, why
